Branding
The Herald
I had the opportunity to design the logo for The Herald, formerly known as Tremont Lofts, a historic property that has been a staple of Cleveland’s rich history since 1851. Over the years, these buildings have played a key role in shaping the city, from being the site of Cleveland’s first institution of higher learning to housing the largest producer of spiritual materials in the world. The rebranding to The Herald pays homage to the publishing house that once called this campus home, while celebrating its vibrant transformation into a modern living space.
Collaborating with Graham Veysey and Marika Shioiri-Clark, our goal was to create a logo that reflects the dynamic, evolving spirit of the Tremont neighborhood, while still honoring the building’s historical significance. We sought to combine modern design elements with a sense of timelessness, using bold yet refined typography and subtle nods to the past. The final mark captures both the energy of the thriving neighborhood and the deep-rooted history of the building, symbolizing its many chapters and the exciting new chapter for those who now call it home.
This logo design is a fusion of history and modernity, mirroring the essence of The Herald at Tremont Place Lofts—a place where tradition meets the future.
